Welcome to My New Blog Series – Tips, Tricks, and Prep for Your Photos!
Hi there! I’ve been a professional photographer for the past 8 amazing years, and one thing I’ve learned is that preparation is key to making sure your photo session is stress-free and fun. I’m excited to start a new blog post series where I’ll be sharing all kinds of tips and advice to help you get ready for your session—whether it’s senior photos, family portraits, or any other milestone in your life.
For the next few weeks, I’m focusing on senior sessions since this is the time when most seniors are getting ready to book their photos. Graduation is just around the corner, and I want to make sure you feel confident and prepared as you capture this exciting time in your life.
As a photographer based in North Louisiana, I’m honored to serve seniors from all over the region. No matter where you’re located, I can’t wait to help you capture this important milestone!
1. Keep It Classic with a White Dress
A white dress is always a perfect choice—it’s timeless and looks stunning under your gown. It creates a clean, classic look that’s never out of style.
2. Pay Attention to Length
When it comes to dress length, aim for something shorter or mid-length. The dress should never be longer than your gown, as you want it to stay hidden and not peek out from under the fabric. Plus, a shorter or mid-length dress lets you move around more freely while still looking put-together.
3. What If Your Cap and Gown Is White?
If your cap and gown happen to be white, I recommend going for a black dress or something with a little contrast. A black dress can help break up the white and keep your look sharp and stylish. You could also consider a color that matches your school’s colors for an extra touch of school spirit!
4. Don’t Zip Your Gown
When it comes to your gown, leave it completely unzipped for photos. Zipping it at all can make you look boxy and hide your shape. Leaving it open will create a much more flattering silhouette, showing off your natural curves.
5. Hand Placement for a Flattering Pose
For an extra flattering pose, try placing your hand on your hip inside the gown. This will help define your waist and create a more polished, confident look in your photos!
By following these simple tips, you'll look amazing in your cap and gown photos and have memories you’ll cherish forever.
If you have any other questions about preparing for your session, feel free to shoot me a message! I’d love to turn your questions into future blog posts to help even more seniors get ready for their big day!
